A stroke of luck, you could call this rosé. On Sept. 7, when our winery was far from ready, we received more pounds of our gamay grapes than expected. We pumped the grapes into the stainless steel tanks, which filled up due to the large quantity, allowing the remaining juice to flow directly out of the barrel. So, in effect, this is a free-run juice rosé. Alcoholic fermentation had not yet begun; however, there was skin contact; hence the rosé's beautiful color. The gamay and muscatel were blended immediately thereafter and the grapes fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Except for a small addition of sulfites - which we use to prevent the growth of unwanted microorganisms - and our organic wine yeast, this wine contains no other additives, plain grape juice in other words. We used a cellulose filter to filter the wine.
