our story
From the South,
to 'Noord'

We make wine, quality wine, in Amsterdam, from carefully selected French, Italian and Spanish grapes. That makes Chateau Amsterdam the Netherlands’ first city winery. By transporting the grapes instead of the bottles we bring the winemaking process, the people behind the scenes and the product als close as possible to you. In our first year we’re producing 6000 bottles. And guess what?! Our very first batch is coming up!

“Over the past 6 months of making wine, I've learned more 'bout life than in the past 15 years combined”
Remy Harrewijn
Pre-sale
I want a
box of wine!

The very first batch of ‘Chateau Amsterdam’ is coming up! On May 13 we proudly present our wines for the first time to the public at our ‘bottle party’.

Want to make sure you get your hands on one of those babies? We’re doing an exclusive pre-sale of only 333 boxes. Each box contains 6 bottles with limited edition labels and will be available two weeks before the official release. Choose between a box of red wines or a mix of reds and whites. Hopefully you’ll enjoy drinking it as much as we did producing it.

What's in a name

Chateau Amsterdam was founded by Remy Harrewijn and his father Jos Harrewijn who both dreamed of having their own winery for years. Jos, the winemaker, is a vinologist and learned all the ins and outs of vinification at the Lageder weingut in Sud-Tirol, Italy. The winery is run by Tom Veugen.

Chateau family
We have great support from fellow creative entrepreneurs who rolled up their sleeves to help us build this little castle. Those beautiful pictures you see on this website are shot by the talented Maeve Stam. We’re grateful for her joining us on this journey and capturing it in this amazing way. Our special thanks goes out to crazy computer genius Tom Walter from Little Fragments for putting a lot of time and effort in building this beautiful website. And my god were would be without our office manager Valeria Lanz.

Great farmers, fine grapes

The grape varieties we use are born and raised in Italy, France and Spain by passionate and true-hearted farmers.

Joseph de Massia, a fourth generation winemaker at Moulin de Breuil, in the Southern French Banyuls area, produces beautiful biodynamic wines and treats his vineyard with a great amount of love and respect. The story goes that he reads his vines bedtime stories!

Maso al Sole is an adorable organic farm in Civezzano, located on a hillside in Trento, Italy. It’s a small family business run by Stafania Gaia. Together with her husband and their two kids they grow the finest Chardonnay!

In Valencia, Spain lives this young fellow called Vicent Almiñana Mas. He supplied us with some great Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo grapes. Vicents wife just gave birth to their frist son. Hopefully the little guys follows into his father footsteps one day!

Come on over, baby!

Our main goal is to get people involved in the winemaking process. We want to give you insight in what it means to produce wine, from grape to bottle. Join us when selecting the grapes when they arrive and filling up those barrels. Come on over to taste the wines in a very early stage or join us at that cheerful moment when we bottle the first batch of Chateau Amsterdam.
