Chateau Amsterdam is an urban winery and a modern family-run business. Started by father and son in 2017. We produce modern and conventional wines in close collaboration with grape farmers from all over Europe. By bringing grapes to Amsterdam from all over Europe, we make wine in the city before the city. We sell the wines online, in various shops and catering outlets and, of course, in our own tasting room and restaurant.

Restaurant manager

INTRODUCTION
Chateau Amsterdam was founded in 2018 and aims to become a top-5 wine brand in the Netherlands by 2025. Chateau Amsterdam is a 2,000 m2 urban winery and hospitality location. Its core activities include wine production, wine sales, and hospitality services (tasting room, restaurant, and shop). The mission is to make wine an urban affair and introduce as many people as possible to the craft. In the Netherlands, Chateau Amsterdam produces 15% of the national wine production and sells 200,000 bottles per year. Starting from 2025, Chateau Amsterdam also plans to expand its operations internationally.

ROLE
We are looking for a Restaurant Manager to lead all aspects of our restaurant. You will deliver a high-quality presence and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service.
Restaurant Manager responsibilities include maintaining the restaurant’s revenue, profitability and quality goals. You will ensure efficient restaurant operation, as well as maintain high productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need management skills and experience in both front and back of the house. We want you to know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with customers and balance seating capacity. Back of the house management experience is also essential, as you’ll hire qualified Wait Staff, set work schedules, and make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations.
We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate daily Front of the House restaurant operations
  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
  • Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
  • Organize and supervise shifts
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity

ORGANIZATION
You will be reporting to the General Manager Hospitality and be a part of a management team with our Head Chef, Tasting Room Manager and Bar Manager and their Sous Chefs and assistant Managers.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE | COMPETENCIES

  • Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
  • Proven customer service experience as a manager
  • Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, with ability to collaborate with the kitchen/Head
  • Chef to inform customers and wait staff
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, like Formitable, Light Speed and Eitje.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus

Marketing Lead

ROLE
We are looking for someone who can take on the role of Marketing Lead and continue to propel the brand forward on this journey. You’ll be working alongside the marketing team, which includes 0.5 FTE (full-time equivalent) internally, freelancers, and agencies, to oversee the entire marketing scope and ensure its successful execution. Your main objective will be to implement a successful marketing strategy, collaborating closely with the founder to develop a strategic marketing plan. This is an exciting position that requires a proactive and hands-on approach.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for someone who can perform the role at a medior level and is not afraid to get their hands dirty. Chateau Amsterdam is a rapidly growing organization that requires a hands-on mentality and continuous reflection on content and organization. As a medior, you are eager to demonstrate that you are almost ready for that senior step.

You will experience a learning curve, make mistakes, and celebrate successes while implementing all the lessons learned. Together with the team, you will be responsible for the entire marketing process, from developing all our marketing communications, including budgeting, to managing the friends community/loyalty program, campaigns, media, content, PR, awards, sponsorships, social media, website, webshop, design, packaging, and more. As a team, you will ensure that the captivating Chateau Amsterdam story is shared effectively with all stakeholders, both external and internal. You will work closely with the production/sales and hospitality teams.

Collaborating with the founder, you will contribute significantly to the strategic marketing plan, although the overall direction will be set by the founder and the entire core team.

As the linchpin of the team, you will ensure its smooth functioning, understanding the direction we are heading, and leading the way with enthusiasm. You will tackle various projects with eagerness and fearlessness, never hesitating to make last-minute decisions and adapt to the fast pace within the company.

You will be reporting to the founder and collaborating with a junior marketer and a marketing intern. Chateau Amsterdam is a flat organization where a small team of professionals shapes the operations, and you will be part of the core team.

Financial Controller

ROLE
As a Financial Controller, you will be a key member of our financial team, contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our records in ExactOnline, ensuring the correct information is inputted and analyse. Additionally, you will support financial reporting, payment processing, and the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closings, working closely with our bookkeeper and FinOps team.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking someone who can assist with various supporting financial tasks:

  • ExactOnline is our accounting software, but it is more than that—it is the foundation upon which we build our business. You will maintain it in collaboration with our FinOps and bookkeeper, ensuring the right information is recorded and extracted.
  • You will prepare for bi-weekly payment rounds and set them up for execution; you will also assist with financial month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings in collaboration with our bookkeeper.
  • Producing financial month-end reports (including cash flow, profit and loss statement, revenue forecast) and working with our financial advisor on our financial models.
  • We aim to automate as much as possible and utilize the right systems and techniques. You will lead this process and manage the connections between these systems concerning the organization of our money and financial data flows.
  • You will ensure an up-to-date financial administration (incoming and outgoing invoices) in collaboration with our FinOps, sales, and hospitality teams.

ORGANIZATION

  • You are part of the FinOps team.
  • You report operationally to the FinOps manager.
  • You work closely with our financial advisors and our accounting firm.

Winery & FinOps facilitator

ROLE
As the Office & Winery Facilitator, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting various operational processes in both the winery and the office. You will work closely with different teams, including sales, warehouse, facility management, HR, and administration.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Backoffice for B2B and B2C in collaboration with our warehouse (AWC):

  • Assisting the sales department in the administrative handling of B2B and B2C orders.
  • Coordinating communication with customers via the sales box and ensuring timely and accurate follow-up. Collaborating with the warehouse (AWC) for goods registration and streamlining logistics processes. Inventory Management:
  • Managing inventory in the winery and between the winery, hospitality, store, and AWC.
  • Monitoring stock levels, planning orders, and ensuring optimal stock availability.
  • Working with various internal and external stakeholders to maintain accurate inventory management.

Support Role in Facility Management:

  • Assisting with facility management tasks, such as coordinating maintenance activities and facility requests.
  • Contributing to creating a safe, organized, and pleasant working environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations related to facility aspects.

Customs Handling of Excise Duties:

  • Responsible for handling customs documentation and excise procedures.
  • Ensuring timely and correct customs handling of incoming and outgoing goods (it’s easier than it sounds ;)).
  • Staying updated on relevant customs and excise laws and regulations.

Store and Warehouse Hygiene:

  • Ensuring a clean, organized, and hygienic store and warehouse environment.
  • Implementing and maintaining hygiene standards and procedures.
  • Periodically checking and updating the store and warehouse setup.

Updating Data for Recording Successes in Hospitality:

  • Collecting and updating relevant data related to hospitality results.
  • Assisting in generating reports and analyses to gain insights into performance.

  • Ensuring a clean, organized, and hygienic store and warehouse environment.

Hospitality & tasting

ROLE
As hospitality staff in the restaurant or tasting room of Chateau, you’re situated in the middle of the winemaking process. You pour the wines directly from the barrel into the guest’s glasses. To accompany the wines, you serve a varying range of modern Italian dishes, responsibly made with love to suit the wine in the glass.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
You are enthusiastic and would like to pass on your knowledge of wine to others and learn more about it yourself. Hospitality flows through your blood and you are full of energy. You can easily walk through our entire winery 20 times a day.

ORGANIZATION
You work in a team in close collaboration with the chefs, shop manager, and hospitality managers.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE | COMPETENCIES 

  • Interested in wine, knowledge is welcome but not required
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus but not a must, having fun is!

Bartender

INTRODUCTION
Chateau Amsterdam is a start-up. Founded in 2017 with a small wine production, and now, 6 years later, we can produce 200,000 bottles of wine locally in Amsterdam in our new winery, adjacent to our restaurant where these wines are served. We are growing rapidly and constantly facing new challenges. In the coming years, our goal is to further expand both our wine production and distribution. Our ultimate ambition is for Chateau to become a Top 3 wine Brand in the Netherlands by 2025.

ROLE
As our Bartender, you create a relaxed atmosphere at our wine bar where guests can enjoy themselves and get to know more about our Amsterdam-made wines. You are able to guide guests through grapes and spirits and help them make choices according to their mood and taste. You’re skilled in cocktail making, coffee and (basic) latte art. You have wine knowledge or you’re willing to learn more about it.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a candidate with a previous bartending experience and who is comfortable working hands-on. You are enthusiastic and knowledgable about cocktails, wines and spirits and willing to transfer the knowledge to guests. Hospitality flows through your blood and you are full of energy. You can easily walk through our huge wine bar 50 times a day.

ORGANIZATION
You will report to the Bar Manager and work closely together with the restaurant and tasting room team. Chateau Amsterdam operates as a flat organization, where a small team of professionals collaboratively drive the operations.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE | COMPETENCIES 

  • Previous bartending experience (classic cocktails and spirits knowledge), coffee and latte art skills
